A TIMELINE HISTORY

A disorganized group of 10 persons have finally formed a registered Non-profit organization. This move came in views immediately after enactment of ZANZIBAR LAW SOCIETY under Act No 6 of 1995 coupled with ratification of multiparty political system in Tanzania. The Non-profit organization was named as the Natural Resources Conservation and Development (SONARECOD). At this stage, SONARECOD placed as social movements organization for a sustained campaign in support of community natural resources management. Among results released were

  1. Agroforestry on-Farm Research in the Coral Soils of Zanzibar
  2. Indigenous tree species surveys
  3. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) – Ndijani Village.)
  4. Ethno botanical Survey on Some Coral Rag Tree Species
  5. Small Scale Nursery Case Study
  6. The Utilization of Indigenous Tree Species in Sea Weed Cultivation
  7. Study on Medicinal Plants of Jozani Forest
  8. Reconnaissance survey of Kiwengwa vegetation types

TAF is a professional organization dedicated to promote sustainable management and conservation of forests in Tanzania. The TAF serves as a platform for forestry professionals, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to collaborate, share knowledge, and advocate for the protection and sustainable use of Tanzania’s forest resources. At this juncture, SONARECOD decided to partnered with TAF to further broadening and concentrating on: Capacity Building in the entire Tanzania. This move helped to

  1. enhance skills and expertise of forestry professionals through training programs, workshops, and conferences in Tanzania.
  2. Research and Innovation by fostering collaboration between researchers, academia, and industry.
  3. Policy Advocacy whereby we engaged with government agencies and other stakeholders to advocate for policies and regulations that promote sustainable local management and conservation of natural resource.
  4. Community Engagement we worked to empower communities living in and around forested areas.
  5. Public Awareness and Education whereby the team raised awareness about the value of forests and the importance of their conservation.

Again, enactment of the Zanzibar Private Company Act no. 15 of 2013, Public Private Partnerships Act of No 8 of 2015 and occurrence of COVID 19; altogether brought a growing needs and pressures for business and shift from international aids dependence. This social and business development challenges involuntary reshaped our Organization from Non-profit to a Corporate firm and now named as the Jupiter Consultancy Company Limited.

This transformation aimed at better handling of day-to-day responsibilities like marketing, program and project development, and sustainable financing of our organization. This process necessitates massive restructuring to make a powerful firm in the spectrum of private sector.

Jupiter strives to compete and better engage and partner with public to address the social problems that are strongly affecting business and citizen economic opportunities. Now Jupiter struggles to diversify and broaden its scope from single natural resources management towards technical support, environmental auditing, quality assurance publication and pest control and management using IPM. These guarantee more employment and wages.
