Ten people in a disorganized group have ultimately established a legally recognized non-profit organization. This action was taken just after Tanzania’s multiparty political system was ratified and the ZANZIBAR LAW SOCIETY was established under Act No. 6 of 1995. Natural Resources Conservation and Development (SONARECOD) is the name of the nonprofit organization founded.

At this point, SONARECOD was established as a social movement organization to assist in community natural resource management through a long-term campaign. Results that were made on public included Research on Agroforestry on Farms in Zanzibar’s Coral Soils: Surveys of Native Tree Species, an ethnobotanical survey of a few species of coral rag trees and a case study of a small-scale nursery, research on Medicinal Plants of Indigenous Tree Species and in Sea Weed Cultivation.

TAF is a professional association devoted to advancing Tanzanian forest conservation and sustainable management. The TAF provides a forum for policymakers, researchers, forestry experts, and other interested parties to work together, exchange ideas, and promote the preservation and sustainable use of Tanzania’s forest resources.

At this point, SONARECOD made the decision to collaborate with TAF in order to expand and focus on: Capacity Building throughout Tanzania. This action assisted in improve Tanzanian forestry professionals’ knowledge and abilities through conferences, workshops, and training initiatives. By encouraging cooperation between academics, industry, and researchers. Through policy advocacy, we worked with governmental organisations and other interested parties to promote laws and regulations.

COVID-19, the Public Private Partnerships Act, and the Zanzibar Private Company Act have caused a move away from dependency on foreign aid and towards a corporate company, Jupiter Consultancy Company Limited.

A significant restructure is necessary in order to achieve the company’s goals of better managing marketing, program creation, and sustainable funding. Jupiter wants to compete and work with the public to solve social issues that impact citizens’ economic possibilities and business.

By expanding its purview to encompass technical assistance, environmental audits, quality assurance publications, and IPM-based pest management, it is now guaranteeing more employment, taxes, and wages.
